Abbigail has tutored students in essay composition for 5 years and is a University Writing Specialist.
Abbigail Baldys graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh with a BA in English Writing. While at Pitt, Abbigail was a left back on the women's D1 varsity soccer team. Pursuing her passion for experimental artistic expression, she earned an MFA in Creative Writing (Poetry) from Saint Mary's College of California, where she was the Judith Lee Stronach Scholar in 2014 and the Poetry Editor of MARY: A Journal of New Writing in 2015. While in graduate school, she developed her empathetic, student-centered instructional approach as she tutored students preparing for the verbal and essay sections of the ACT, SAT, and GRE. Currently, she works as a Writing Specialist at a small university in Pennsylvania and guides students through all stages of the writing process. Her poetry has appeared in literary magazines both in print and online.
Fun Fact
Abbigail has an affinity for found objects; since 2017, she has been collecting paperclips she sees on the street. Her best finds to date: one in the woods of Cutler Coast, Maine, and one on a sidewalk in Jaco, Costa Rica.
