Kweku Djan

Kweku was born and raised in Sacramento, California, and his family is from Ghana. He graduated from Yale University with a degree in sociology and a concentration in health and society. During his time at Yale, he tutored incoming students in math, conducted global health research on malaria, and interned at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. After graduating, he completed clinical research on childhood obesity at the National Institutes of Health. He also spent two years hiring and training nearly 50 MCAT tutors in teaching strategy before matriculating to the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine.

In medical school, Kweku has mentored younger medical students and tutored several shelf exam subjects. Currently, he is completing a master's of public health degree at the University of California, Berkeley before returning to UCSF for the remainder of his final year of medical school. Kweku passed Step 1 and earned a 264 on Step 2 CK. He is planning to apply to family medicine for residency. His collective experience teaching students spans more than 10 years, and he is passionate about health equity, medical education, and empowering a diverse workforce of future physicians. In his free time, Kweku enjoys playing and watching basketball, hiking, swimming, reading, traveling, and exploring new food spots in the San Francisco Bay Area.
