Dr. Mayer graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) with a bachelor's degree in biological sciences and an honors college certificate. During her undergraduate years, she served as a chemistry tutor for two years, supporting the department and helping fellow students grasp complex concepts. She then earned her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, where she was actively involved in the CAPP program, an extracurricular initiative focused on psychiatry. Her commitment to the school extended to her role as an applicant interviewer for the office of admissions, a position that highlighted her dedication to fostering the next generation of medical professionals. She graduated in the top third of her class before moving on to her pediatrics residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center, subsequently achieving board certification in pediatrics.
After spending several years in private practice, Dr. Mayer transitioned to pediatric urgent care telemedicine, adapting her skills to meet the demands of virtual healthcare. Beyond her clinical work, she launched a young professional women's learning program in the summer of 2020, which continues to meet biweekly on Zoom, providing a platform for growth and community.
