Meagan DeJong likes to approach students and their work with a combination of empathy and expertise. She graduated in 2016 from Montclair State University with a master’s degree in writing studies and graduate certificate in teaching writing. As a graduate student, Meagan worked as a graduate assistant writing consultant at the campus writing center, where she encountered plenty of personal statements.
Upon graduating, she began working as an adjunct professor so that she could continue the work she loves; she's grateful to be doing the work of her heart. She lives in New Jersey with her spouse and son, where they laugh and learn together every single day (and sometimes dance in the kitchen, hike local trails, or tend to the veggie garden).

Fun Fact
Meagan's master's thesis focused on the lack of student agency and voice within academic settings and included original research from polled students. It was 91 pages and submitted early.
