Professor Van Howe is a board-certified general pediatrician with over 30 years of clinical experience. Dr. Van Howe served on the medical school admissions committee at the CMU College of Medicine and has also participated in residency admissions. He graduated with honors from Saint Olaf College with majors in Philosophy and Chemistry. He graduated from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine before completing his Pediatrics residency at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. He was awarded a Master of Science in Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis from the University of Michigan School of Public Health. He was the founding Professor and Chief of Pediatrics for Central Michigan University College of Medicine. He is currently a Clinical Professor at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. The number of his publications in peer-reviewed journals on the topic of circumcision exceeds 80. He has provided peer-review assessments for over 35 medical journals.
