Waverley is from Camas, WA (across the river from Portland, OR). She graduated summa cum laude from Harvard University in 2018 with a degree in Neurobiology and a minor in Computer Science. During her time at Harvard University, she served as a teaching fellow and course developer for introductory neurobiology courses, a peer tutor for biochemistry, an instructor for CPR/First Aid, and a peer advisor. She received multiple awards for academic excellence and basic science research. At the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, she has similarly served as a student preceptor for the surgery core clerkship, reviewed preclinical course curricula, and advised undergraduate and medical students.
Most recently, she has advocated for the development of a plastic surgery virtual rotation for students from groups underrepresented in medicine. She received a 263 on Step 1. She is passionate about teaching and believes that strong foundational knowledge can empower a student to feel more confident in the classroom, clinic, and wards. She is interested in academic plastic surgery, and through medical education, hopes to foster a positive learning environment and instill a passion for science. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and rock scrambling, cooking and baking, and playing piano and learning guitar.
