Adaobi Ugochukwu

Adaobi is Nigerian and was raised in Tallahassee, Florida. She graduated from the University of Florida (Go Gators!) with a degree in biochemistry and a minor in Spanish. During college, Adaobi participated in student groups, autoimmune disease research, and volunteering programs that supported chronically and terminally ill adolescents and young adults. As a lupus patient since the age of 12, Adaobi also volunteered with organizations focused on lupus awareness and advocacy after graduation. Moreover, she worked as a tutor for general chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, biology, and the MCAT.
Now a fourth-year medical student at Johns Hopkins, Adaobi continues to teach and work with undergraduate and medical students, especially those from groups underrepresented in medicine. She is passionate about teaching and student success and believes that perseverance and determination are key to overcoming any obstacles on the journey to medicine. In the future, she would like to pursue a career in pediatric rheumatology.
In her free time, Adaobi enjoys participating in stand-up comedy, MCing, salsa dancing, attending Latin music concerts, exploring Baltimore, and spending time on the beach during trips back to her sunny home state of Florida.
