Dr. McBride started at UNC determined NOT to become a doctor. After taking a course in physiology, however, she changed her mind and pivoted to studying medicine. She was then admitted to the UNC School of Medicine, staying at her alma mater. She completed training at Vanderbilt before returning to North Carolina, where she has been actively involved in medical education and hospital-based pediatrics.

Dr. McBride has spent much of her career advising students and residents on their journeys through medical training. Additionally, she is trained as a leadership coach and applies these skills with students as well as fellow faculty. She has two sons who are now in college. Similar to their mom, they vow that medicine is not for them, but time will tell.

    Fun Fact

Dr. McBride once skippered a 50-foot sailboat in the Caribbean while seeking harbor from a hurricane. She also takes great pride in being handy around the house, from plumbing to sanding (and more!), she loves a good project.
