Avi Botwinick

Avi is graduating with a B.S. in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Miami, and he will be continuing his studies at UM at the Miller School of Medicine this coming fall. Avi was heavily involved in student organizations at UM, with leadership positions in the Karate Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and UM Scientifica Magazine.
His research experience includes testing chemical combinations against malaria and working as a research assistant at a vaccine research clinic. At school, Avi has consistently volunteered with adults with special needs through UM's annual FunDay. Whenever he visits home, he offers companionship to patients at a hospice in an underserved area of Atlanta. Throughout his college years, Avi has served as a peer mentor in multiple organizations and has facilitated learning for students as a workshop leader.
He focuses on helping students to be efficient in their studying in order to maximize their learning and, ultimately, their performance. Avi enjoys inspiring self-confidence within his students, and he believes that with a positive mindset and proper guidance, any student can reach their full potential.
