Dr. Jaclyn (Jackie) Fowler is an adventurer, a lover of culture and language, a traveler, and a writer. To pay for her obsessions, she works at American Public University System (APUS). Before that, she worked K-12 and higher education for most of her career. First, she was a principal who taught college courses on the side. Now, she is the chair of the English department for a big, military-affiliated university.

Dr. Fowler earned a master’s degree in English and Linguistics from Millersville University, a Doctorate in Education and Linguistics from The Pennsylvania State University, and a terminal degree (MFA) in Creative Writing from Wilkes University. She is the author of the novel, It is Myself that I Remake and of the creative nonfiction book, No One Radiates Love Alone. Recently, she published another book titled, Jack: The Almost True Story of the Molly Maguires. The story is about an Irish revolutionary, and she spent a good amount of the summer in Ireland researching for it.

Sharing my love of writing and watching others catch it is an incredible experience for Dr. Fowler. So many emerging writers walk into her classroom, and the first thing they say is that they hate writing. Not hello. Seeing them learn to like—and sometimes even love—writing is so enjoyable for her. Some of these students have even gone on to publish.

    Fun Fact
Dr. Jackie Fowler spent four years working in the UAE's most famous city, Dubai. She taught writing to students from all over the world and traveled to find the stories for her own writing.
