Jonathan Shafer MD
AdvisorDr. Shafer was a four-year member of the admissions committee at UC Irvine School of Medicine in addition to privately working with medical school applicants for two years. He has seen many of his students and interviewees accept positions at medical schools across the country.
Dr. Jonathan Shafer graduated cum laude with a BS in biochemistry and molecular biology from University of Maryland, Baltimore County where he served as one of the university’s general and organic chemistry tutors within the chemistry tutorial center. After graduation, he attended both medical and business school at UC Irvine where he served on the admissions committee for four years. While in business school, Dr. Shafer also co-founded a medical school admissions consulting group and helped many students develop their applications and prepare for interviews. He completed his medicine internship at New York University and is currently working as a healthcare consultant to pharmaceutical companies.

Dr. Shafer's first job was at age 12: he worked for a science education company that supplied schools with lab supplies. He built kits and conducted experiments for the catalog.
