Michelle Dyer MA
Writing AdvisorMichelle has spent the last decade in and around the world of writing: studying it, teaching it, revising it for others, and creating her own. She has had several pieces of her poetry and prose published in literary magazines. After teaching English for seven years, she now freelances as a professional writer and editor.
Michelle Dyer is a lifelong writer. After falling in love with creative writing in high school, she graduated from the University of New Mexico in 2012 with a bachelor of arts in English/creative writing. During this time, she worked as a writing tutor in the Center for Academic Program Support. Upon graduation (and a brief stint in marketing), Michelle transitioned careers and became a high school English teacher. During her seven-year teaching career, she earned a master of arts in English education from Arizona State University, presented at state and national conferences, and instructed workshops in college application essay writing. Her poetry and creative prose are published in various literary publications. She also won the "Teachers as Writers" award for her poem, "Writing Turned In."
Michelle joined MedSchoolCoach because she truly loves working with students and supporting them on their journey. She also loves the work of transforming a piece of writing from a messy first draft to a sparkling final one. She is a word-nerd and young-person advocate—so MedSchoolCoach is a perfect fit! Additionally, she loves the subject itself. Having spent many months in and around hospitals and doctors, she has a more keen understanding of the medical world than she ever did before. That perspective is surprisingly helpful when working with a client's writing and their stories.
